AM I ELIGIBLE FOR HELP PAYING FOR CHILD CARE? You may be eligible if you are:
You must use an eligible provider, and you must need child care in order to work, attend high school completion classes (including GED, ABE and ESL), participate in approved MWA activities, or participate in an approved treatment program for a physical, mental, or emotional condition.
How much money can I make and still be eligible?
FIP and SSI recipients, licensed foster parents, prevention and children’s protective services families are eligible without an income determination and do not pay for child care unless the cost exceeds DHS maximum rates. Income eligible families pay part of the cost, based on their gross monthly income and family group size. Use the chart below to get an idea if you may be eligible.
What does DHS pay?
DHS rates range from $1.35 an hour to $3.00 an hour based on the type of eligible provider you choose, the area you live in, and the age of your child(ren). Some providers may also qualify for an additional infant/toddler incentive payment.
